A.M.A.R. - THE ISLAMIC GIRLS OF RUGBY
Being a girl and playing rugby in an Islamic country is not an easy task. Even in a place like Morocco, with its more modern approach to Islam, these sports are a men-only kind of stuff. Coming from disparate social classes, the girls of the all-female rugby team AMAR tackle many obstacles, imposed by family and society, just to follow their athletic passion. For these girls, rugby is a declaration of independence. In each game, there is much more at stake than winning against the opposing team; the real, final victory is to reclaim self-confidence, personal freedom and a primary role within Islamic society.
