JESUS IS LIVE NOW
Christianity has been reinventing itself for 2,000 years and it has now officially entered into a brand new era. If religion has increasingly been flirting with an Internet based communication, the recent lockdown days highlighted the huge potential of the social media mainstream platforms. In form of live streaming on YouTube and Facebook, the word of God has lately been brought to an enormous audience, with the inherent power of forming new religious micro or macro communities. Sharing Bible and prayers on social media lets worshipers being involved and participative with priests and believers from every corner of the world becoming instantly popular, gaining thousands of virtual followers. Masses, private prayers, rosary, Bible readings go live either from a church with baroque decorations or from a bare room, from the Vatican City way down to a small forgotten village in Africa. Spiritual rhythm and paths become more personalized, tailored to different audiences, cultural and social backgrounds. Following hundreds of live streaming, we documented photographically this religious revolution with the same means used by the worshipers, just a smartphone and a laptop.
